Spring 2021 ModernBrain Awards (Interpretation)

• Interpretation events require participants to select, edit, block, memorize, and perform a ~10 minute version of someone else’s work. Dramatic Interpretation (DI), for instance, allows students to shine with Oscar-worthy monologues. Humorous Interpretation (HI) lets students dazzle audiences with dizzying character transitions as they change voices, postures, and actions at the drop of a hat. Programmed Oral Interpretation (POI) showcases students’ directorial abilities; they piece together works of prose, poetry, and drama in order to express a clear theme. That’s just the tip of the miles-deep interpretation iceberg!
• ModernBrain’s Spring 2021 Interpretation results demonstrated how hard work leads to great rewards.
• Programmed Oral Interpretation:
• Anna was the novice CHAMPION at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, the CHAMPION at the Southern States Championship, the California Middle School State RUNNER-UP, the RUNNER-UP at the MS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, a finalist at the Fullerton HS tournament, a finalist at the CSUF Bruschke tournament, and a semifinalist at the Stanford tournament. 
• Annie B. was the TCFL Spring CHAMPION, the TCFL State Qualifiers CHAMPION, the West Los Angeles district RUNNER-UP, a finalist at James Logan (one of the most prestigious tournaments on the West Coast), a finalist at the Berkeley tournament, and a California High School State Semifinalist.
• Casey was the CHAMPION at the MCJ Online Tournament, the RUNNER-UP at the Falcon Frenzy tournament, the RUNNER-UP at the Lincoln Silver Bowl, the RUNNER-UP at the Round Rock, a finalist at the BRMHS tournament, a finalist at the Lamar Texas Tournament, a finalist at the Cottonwood Classic, a novice finalist at the Bob Bilyeu Winter Classic, a a semifinalist at the Reeds Spring Wolves tournament, a semifinalist at the Canyon swing, and a semifinalist at the Mesa Jackrabbit Jamboree.
• Ashley D. was the WBFL CHAMPION, a finalist at the Berkeley tournament, a finalist at the Cabot Classic, a finalist at the BRMHS tournament, a West Los Angeles district finalist, a finalist at the Tascosa swing, a semifinalist at the Bulldog Bash, a semifinalist at the Canyon swing, and a quarter-finalist at James Logan.
• Emily was the California Middle School STATE CHAMPION. 
• Ashley L. was a finalist at the Canyon swing and a finalist at the Tascosa swing.
• Allison was a finalist at the Cabot Classic and a finalist at the Peninsula tournament.
• Humorous Interpretation:
• Casey was the CHAMPION at the Falcon Frenzy tournament, the novice CHAMPION at the Watertown Speech Fiesta, the RUNNER-UP at the Alief Hastings tournament, a finalist at the BRMHS tournament, a finalist at the Cottonwood Classic, a finalist at McMinnville, a finalist at the Round Rock, a finalist at the Deer Creek tournament, and a semifinalist at the Harlingen Swing, 
• Audrey was the CHAMPION at the Fullerton tournament, the RUNNER-UP at the CSUF Bruschke tournament, a novice finalist at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, a JV finalist at the Stanford tournament, a finalist at the Rose City tournament, a finalist at Olle Owl, a finalist at the RCSHS Greatest of All Time tournament, a California Middle School State Finalist, a SCJFL State finalist, and a finalist at the MS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS.
• Jennifer was the RUNNER-UP at the Fullerton tournament, a varsity finalist at the Texas Cougar Classic, a novice finalist at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, a semifinalist at the Canyon swing, a finalist at the MS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, and a semifinalist at the Tascosa swing, 
• Wonnie was the varsity RUNNER-UP at the Texas Cougar Classic, a novice finalist at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, a finalist at the BRMHS tournament, a finalist at the Fullerton tournament, and a semifinalist at the Cabot Classic.
• Dramatic Interpretation:
• Casey was the novice CHAMPION at the Watertown Speech Fiesta, the CHAMPION at the Prague tournament, the RUNNER-UP in the MCJ Online Tournament, a finalist at the Falcon Frenzy tournament, a finalist at McMinnville, a finalist at the Clear Creek Tournament, a finalist at the Rapid City Penguin Classic, a finalist at the Canyon swing, a finalist at the NM Chili Bowl, a finalist at the Fairview Freeze tournament, a finalist at the Copper Classic, and a semifinalist at the Canyon swing, 
• Jennifer was the novice CHAMPION at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, a finalist at the BRMHS tournament, a finalist at the Canyon swing, a novice finalist at the Stanford tournament, a finalist at Olle Owl, a finalist at the RCSHS Greatest of All Time tournament, a California Middle School State Finalist, and a semifinalist at the Cabot Classic.
• Allison was a varsity semifinalist at the Texas Cougar Classic.
• DUO Interpretation:
• Dev and Rand were the TCFL Spring CHAMPIONS, the TCFL State Qualifiers CHAMPIONS, and the West Los Angeles district runners-up. 
• Declamation/Oratorical Interpretation/Standard Oratory:
• Casey was the novice CHAMPION at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic,  the novice CHAMPION at the Okmulgee tournament, the CHAMPION at the Deer Creek tournament, the CHAMPION at the Prague tournament, a novice finalist at the Falcon Frenzy tournament, and a finalist at the Dixie Heights Tournament.
• Emily was the CHAMPION at the BRMHS tournament, the CHAMPION at the Fullerton HS tournament, the RUNNER-UP at the RCSHS Greatest of All Time tournament, the RUNNER-UP at the Southern States Championship, a JV finalist at the Stanford tournament, a middle school finalist at the CSUF Bruschke tournament, made finals at the MS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS, and was a California Middle School State Semifinalist.
• Sophia was the RUNNER-UP at the Fullerton HS tournament, a novice finalist at the Stanford tournament, a finalist at the RCSHS Greatest of All Time tournament, and a semifinalist at Olle Owl.
• Navya was a novice finalist at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic, a finalist at Olle Owl, and a semifinalist at the RCSHS Greatest of All Time tournament.
• Audrey was a novice finalist at the Oklahoma Bixby Classic.
