In-Person and International Success Stories!

awards debate mock trial speech Apr 17, 2022

Website Updates

This week's Student Spotlight goes to Grace A-J. Grace A-J, a 6th grader from Ridgecrest and member of our Speech Nationals Team, addressed the PVPUSD Board of Education! She used her speaking skills to advocate directly for students, and we couldn't be more proud.

Public Speaking Tip: Supplement your practice with technology! ModernBrain has a partnership with Yoodli, the artificial intelligence public speaking app. It uses AI to give immediate feedback on pace, word choice, and volume. We're happy we can give our students both the top experts and the most cutting-edge tools to take their speaking to the next level.

Tournament Updates

We had success at the high school, college, and law school levels in Mock Trial.

  • We  helped one of UCLA Law School's mock trial teams, which took first place nationally at the American Association of Justice's Student Trial Advocacy Competition (here's a video of their championship round).
  • We attended and helped host the International Mock Trial Round Robin competition, which featured volunteer judges from UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, MIT, the University of Toronto, Macalester College, USC, and Northwestern. Teams with multiple students we've coached placed, including Valley International Prep, which took 4th.
