Free Stanford Prep Classes

Before nearly every tournament, we offer extra classes at no charge for students enrolled at ModernBrain. Stanford is coming up soon and we are again offering 8 extra limited prep classes for students attending the Stanford competition.

Your bonus class coaches are truly amazing: a national champion coach and a national champion speaker.

Coach Iain

Iain is a lifelong advocate for competitive communication; he founded eight teams, coached winners of over 6,000 individual awards (in addition to over 1,000 individual championships, including five national champions), and received the National Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the activity. Iain’s students are the only team in the history of Southern California to earn the National Speech and Debate Association’s Outstanding Distinction team award. In 2019, his team won sweepstakes at the Tournament of Champions. He’s coached NSDA national semifinalists, finalists, and champions in Public Forum Debate, Original Oratory, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Programmed Oral Interpretation, Congress, International Extemp, National Extemp, Storytelling, Expository, Commentary, and Impromptu Speaking. During his college years, he won the American Mock Trial Association’s national championship twice.

Coach Kate

Kate was the 2017 NSDA National Champion (Impromptu Speaking), 2017 CHSSA California State Champion (Impromptu Speaking), 2017 Stanford Invitational Champion (Impromptu Speaking), 2017 Stanford Invitational Champion (Spontaneous Argumentation). Not only will you have the chance to be coached for the Stanford tournament by a Stanford Champion but also by someone who has experience coached at all levels for us. Kate coaches Model United Nations, Mock Trial, Speech, and Spar at ModernBrain. She has taught students from second-grade first-time speakers to national champion level high school students.
