ModernBrain Mock Trial: The Strongest Advocacy Program
Last week, ModernBrain closed out (took 1st and 2nd place) at the International Mock Trial league for the third time in a row. Our students will once again compete for the title against each other in a showcase match that will influence thousands of new contestants.
ModernBrain’s mock trial division began seriously competing in 2022. We had spent years consulting for other schools, helping them structure programs and train their students. When we decided to form our own teams, the impact was immediate.
Our students won top attorney and witness awards across international tournaments, state championships, and invitationals. Since then, ModernBrain teams have been a fixture in final rounds around the world.
We are the only program to ever make international finals at every major spring contest in a single season. We achieved that record-setting status in under four years.
ModernBrain’s coaching staff combines national titles, years of collegiate experience, and a shared belief in developing disciplined, creative competitors.
Dr. Iain Lampert, two-time collegiate national champion and coach of UCLA’s national title team.
Coach Samuel Ma, captain of UC San Diego’s first national-qualifying team in over five years.
Coach Sean Rogers, who helped lead Yale Mock Trial to the national finals.
Coach Finn Kobler, a back-to-back state public speaking champion who now trains our middle and high school advocates.
Former coaches and captains from ModernBrain have gone on to study at top law schools and join nationally ranked trial advocacy programs at Harvard, UCLA, LMU, Georgetown, Texas, and more.
Our teams audition through a demanding process that screens for both talent and collaboration. Practices are built around repetition, feedback, and clarity of purpose. Students learn not only how to perform but how to analyze and adapt in real time. We focus heavily on scrimmaging. We treat this like the sport it is.
We emphasize preparation, professionalism, and respect for the process. That approach has led to ModernBrain students earning both competitive awards and Spirit of the Tournament recognition at multiple international events.
ModernBrain Mock Trial is now recognized across circuits as a consistent top program. We are proud of what our students have accomplished, and even more proud of the way they compete — sharp, humble, and team-oriented.
Students who want to train at the highest level of advocacy, and families who want to see their children grow into confident, capable leaders, should start in our introductory mock trial course.
