Our Winning Tradition
Every student has the chance to become a champion
After only a year and a half as a team, Pacific Academy’s MUN delegates won the Award Of Merit (3rd place) at the world’s largest MUN conference at the UN in New York. They competed against 3,000 student from 300+ schools and 75 countries and came out on top. Not only was this team young, they had middle school students as well, competing against the best high schools in the world. Several of the students started with us in MSPDP. MSPDP can be a valuable training ground for all forms of academic competitions and life.
Punching Above Their Weight
Every year, our 6th-8th grade students will go to elite national high school events like the Stanford Invitational. And every year, they have the confidence and poise to walk away with awards in both the JV and Varsity categories, winning while competing against the top juniors and seniors in the world. We teach a broad range of skills from expository, extemporaneous, and original oratory, to dramatic/humorous interpretation, poetry, and programmed oral interpretation.
The Ethics Bowl is the premier philosophy competition in the US. Every year, our students, many of whom started in MSPDP, take up the challenge to see who can best solve a moral dilemma. Our student and alumni has been extremely successful, winning 1st place at a national invitational at DePauw University, 1st place at the Western Regionals, and 4th place at Western Regionals.
Every year we encourage new students to challenge themselves. One of the things we are most proud of is the ability of students to improve rapidly when they cooperate as teammates, listen to judge feedback, and find joy in learning how to use their voice. Even new students with little experience (only 2 weeks of training in the above picture) can come out on top. Believe in yourself and be a good team member and anything is possible.
We love alternative competitions. We encourage students to try new things. The Reagan Great Communicator Debates is one of those things. With $50,000 in scholarships available and internships at places like the Congress and the Supreme Court, we think that joining this event is not only fun but also rewarding in a practical way. Almost every year our students have entered, we have walked away with scholarships and more.
